BELOW IS AN EMAIL FROM A STUDENT ASKING FOR OUR HELP. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT AN NRAS PROJECT AND YOU SHOULD RESPOND DIRECTLY TO THE STUDENT VIA HIS EMAIL OR MOBILE IF YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE.Hello NRAS Members
My name is Michael Vine. I'm an MA Medical Anthropology student at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
For my dissertation, I am researching people's everyday experiences of living with pain, fatigue and inflexibility or restricted mobility. To do this, I'd like to interview or just speak with as many people as possible--with rheumatoid arthritis, another rheumatic condition, or any type of pain-related chronic illness. This could be done face-to-face, by phone, or even by email. Ultimately, my goal is to help improve health and social care for this group of patients.
Perhaps you could help spread the word? I understand you won't be able to give me any names or information, but if you could forward this email to people that might be interested in speaking to me, I would really appreciate it. For each person that helps, I'd be more than happy to donate a small sum of money to NRAS or another charity of their choosing.
If you can think there's a particularly pressing unmet need in this area, please do tell me about it. That way I can make sure my research is as valuable as possible. And if there's any other way you can think of helping, I'd love to hear that too. Perhaps there are some groups or meetings I could sit in on?
Thanks very much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
All the best,
Michael Vine
